Big Basin to Wadell
Only Rachel and Gwen showed up for the hike but that was fine with me.
I met Rachel at Wadell Beach as the sun cleared the mountains and colored the waves orange-pink. The sky was almost clear and the day was promising to be a good one. We were ready to hit the trail but first thing's first: coffee. Then we drove to the trailhead at Big Basin.
Gwen got there right on time. After mandatory toilet stop we were on the way only that it was the wrong way so we added a mile to our hike.
Going from Big Basin towards the ocean is a very easy hike so we kept a decent pace passing groups of much younger hikers on the way. Not that they knew we were racing them, of course. It felt good giving my legs a workout. Sure, that was not a run but it was the longest hike I have done in months so I was totally happy and vowing to organize more hikes.
Rain mercifully waited till we got to the last mile. I did not even take my rain jacket out, that's how pathetically little water fell.

Both ladies got a bit cold so we ended our adventure at Kelly's with a nice hot tea, sandwiches and soup. Now that is what I call a well spent weekend. I want more of those.
